| Dear,
Each month we discuss a financial issue in general terms while we demonstrate the capabilities of our financial software. A few people have suggested there may be better financial solutions than the ones presented. There are many solutions and the aim is to find the best one for you.
Determine what you want, then design your finances around achieving your goals. Life first, money second (within reason of course). |
TFSA or RRSP?
Click the image below to view the video.
|
The video provides a simple comparison between a TFSA and a RRSP.
If you maximize your RRSP contribution keep doing it.
If you don't maximize your RRSP contribution gross it up. i.e. make a pre tax contribution. Common ways to gross up an RRSP contribution are:
1. Group RRSP contributions,
3. Self employment.
4. An RRSP loan for the amount of your tax refund.
If you don't gross up your RRSP contribution then a TFSA may be a better alternative.
Done properly, you will accumulate more money in a RRSP than a TFSA. Go for accumulation. Proper planning will help with taxes during the withdrawal stage.

Testimonials
The video had a huge "wow" factor to it
because of all the data that you
can collect and show how one co-relates to the other.
Honestly for me I thought it was mostly a lot of bling.
At the end of the day common sense prevails.
Pay yourself first.
Use credit cards as cash not credit.
Pay down debts as accelerated as you can.
Don't live beyond your means.
Do not buy vacations on credit.
Pay as little tax as possible.

Can You Pick Winning Stocks?
Click the image below to view the video. |
This is a presentation given by Larry Swedroe of Buck Asset Management, Larry is a proponent of DFA investments.
Main points
Are there individuals who can constantly pick winning stocks? There may be a few.
Can you or I find the skilled few and share their profits? The odds are against us.
Are you better off investing as though there is no one who can constantly pick winning stocks? Larry thinks so.
Larry's advice: take a passive approach to investing and enjoy a good glass of wine with your spouse, or engage in one of your favorite hobbies.

My daughter Allison took this picture of an owl in our back yard. I think this is the first owl I have ever seen outside of a zoo.
From all of us we hope you had a great Easter weekend and were able to enjoy the fabulous weather!!
Expect the best! Allan Norman, M.Sc., CFP, CIM Atlantis Financial Inc |
